What it covers

A bed is three or four things pretending to be one: the frame, the base, the mattress and the headboard, and each of them has its own awkwardness on the way down the stairs. A divan base will not bend, a metal frame needs a spanner, and a mattress folds exactly where you do not want it to. We take the whole bed, or whichever parts are going, and each part is priced off our own list: £30 for a frame without its mattress, £55 for a sprung base, £55 for a single or double mattress and £66 for a king size, £20 for a foam headboard, plus a call-out charge from £50 depending on where you are. If the frame has to come apart before it will leave the room, dismantling is £35. Beds from a spare room, a guest room or a whole house clearance are all done the same way, from the room they are in. Frame, base, mattress and headboard each have their own line on the list, so you only pay for what is going. When the wardrobe and the drawers are going too, a load can work out cheaper. A photo of the room gets you both figures. Anything that can be used again goes to local charities and to people who are homeless, and what can be recycled is recycled.
