House clearance in Basildon

Basildon was made a new town in 1949, and the houses we clear here mostly date from the decades after: terraces on footpaths rather than roads, maisonettes over garages, blocks of flats, and the older plotland bungalows that survived in Laindon and Pitsea. The footpath layout matters more than anything else on a clearance, because a lot of front doors are a walk from the nearest place a vehicle can stop, through a shared path and round a corner. Everything is carried that distance by hand, which is normal for us and built into the quote rather than added on the day. Families clearing a parent's house, landlords between tenants and people downsizing make up most of it, and they all get the same thing: a written price from photos, a video or a viewing, keepsakes set aside, the rooms swept, and nothing paid until the job is done. Basildon's own collection is a flat £30 for up to five items, and it will not collect from inside a house, a flat, a garage or a shed. Everything has to be out at the front by 7.30am, which on a footpath estate is a long carry before breakfast. We carry it out ourselves and price the house in one figure, from £349.
