When Witham expanded in the sixties it was given industrial estates to go with the houses, and the units around Freebournes and Eastways, close to the A12, are still where most of our commercial work in the town is. A unit clearance there usually means racking, pallets, old stock, a mezzanine office and a yard, cleared to a lease date, and sometimes a strip out of the fit-out as well. In the town centre it is smaller: shops and offices along Newland Street, often in old buildings with narrow access.
