As the county town, Hertford has more offices than its size suggests: council and professional offices, solicitors, accountants and agencies, many of them in old buildings in the centre with narrow stairs and no lift, plus shops along the main streets and units on the industrial land by the river. When an office moves or a lease ends we clear the furniture, the IT and the filing, strip out the partitions and the fit-out if the lease says they go, and leave it swept. In an old building we take out what is in it and leave the building alone unless we are told otherwise. It is priced by the load rather than by the day and quoted in writing from photos or a walk round. The nearest county recycling centre, at Ware, needs an ePass and refuses business waste.
