Wanstead's commercial ground is one street and the lanes off it. Shops at pavement level, offices, surgeries and flats above them, and yards and stores behind that are reachable only through the lanes the council's own appraisal singles out as what makes the village work. Some of those shops are single-storey buildings put up in front of eighteenth-century houses, so the depth of a unit rarely matches its frontage.
A strip-out here is therefore about the route rather than the volume. The question is whether a vehicle gets into the lane and to the rear door, or whether everything comes out through a shopfront onto a busy pavement. It is worth ten minutes on the phone before anybody quotes a figure, and it is the first thing we ask.

Chigwell Road does not take commercial waste at all
The East London Waste Authority is explicit: commercial waste is not accepted at the Chigwell Road centre, and it points businesses at Frizlands Lane, Gerpins Lane or Jenkins Lane instead. Every one of those is in another borough and every one is a paid trade route rather than a free one.
The vehicle rules close the door from the other side as well. Chigwell Road allows nothing over 3,500kg, no Luton, no tail lift and no tipper, and there are number plate cameras on the site specifically to catch commercial waste coming in. A shop being emptied over a weekend has no version of that route available to it.
So it leaves on a vehicle, is sorted, and anything recyclable comes out before the rest goes for disposal. The load size and the figure come in writing before anything starts, and inside the ULEZ the £12.50 line is on that quote rather than added later.

Can any of the shop fit go through the council tip?
No. Commercial waste is not accepted at Chigwell Road at all, and the vehicle you would use is barred anyway. A transfer station takes it.
Can you get a vehicle down the lane to our back door?
Tell us which lane and we will tell you honestly. If it will not fit, we carry through and load at the kerb, and the quote says which.
Is ULEZ added on top of the load price?
It is a published line of its own, £12.50 for a zone address, printed on the written quote from the outset.
