There is a rule in this borough that almost nobody knows about until they hit it. Redbridge classes building and DIY material as 'restricted waste', makes you book a visit to bring any of it, and caps each household at 1,000kg in a rolling twelve months. Spend the allowance in November and you are waiting until the following November for the next one.

For one bathroom that is fine. For a house being done up room by room over a year, which is most of what happens in Wanstead, the allowance is gone by spring.
