The 1,000kg rule nobody mentions until they hit it
The thing that catches people out in Ilford is the borough's rule on building waste. Redbridge classes it as restricted waste, makes you book a visit to the Chigwell Road site to bring any, and allows each household 1,000kg in a rolling year. One bathroom refit can use most of that. And the site's own vehicle rules shut out the vans most people would hire to take a big load: no Luton, no tail lift, no tipper, nothing over 3,500kg. So the calls we get from Ilford are mostly the second half of a home improvement, the patio slabs, the plasterboard, the old kitchen in the front garden, when the allowance has gone or the van will not get through the gate. Chigwell Road needs a booking for any DIY waste and counts it against the household's 1,000kg, and it bars Lutons, tail lifts and tippers outright. Once either limit is reached there is no council route left for that waste. We have no cap, price it by the load from £99.99 including VAT, and show the £12.50 zone charge on the quote.
