Barking's household recycling centre is Jenkins Lane, and its rules are what send most people to us. It bars Luton vans, flatbed vehicles, vans with tail lifts and tippers of any size at all times, and a van or a car towing a trailer has to be booked in advance, as does any vehicle bringing DIY or renovation waste. That leaves a car boot, and a car boot does not take a sofa, a fridge freezer and the contents of a spare room. The rest of the work here comes from the new flats down at Barking Riverside, where a move in or out leaves boxes, packaging and furniture with nowhere to go, and from the older streets, where a kitchen or a bathroom refit fills the front garden. We load it and take it, priced off the list by the load from £99.99 including VAT. Jenkins Lane will not take a Luton, a tail lift or a tipper, and every van has to be booked. We bring our own vehicle and need no booking. Loads from £99.99 including VAT, with the £12.50 zone charge on its own line.
