The commercial side of Braintree, and what comes out of it
Braintree's industrial floorspace sits mainly on Springwood Industrial Estate, reached off Bradbury Drive about a mile from the A120, along with the newer developments inside it such as Bradbury Park and Kestrel Park, and on Skyline 120 out towards the junction.
Estate units are the straightforward half: a loading door, a yard, and somewhere to put the vehicle. The awkward half is a shop or an office over a town-centre street, where it is a carry-down to a kerb with a loading restriction on it and the work has to fit before the shops open or after they shut.

These are the load prices off our own price list. You are told the load size and the price before anything is booked, so there is nothing to work out at the end of the job.

Tick off what you have got and it works out the load size and the price. It is an indication and we confirm it before anything is booked.

- A photo tells us the load size straight away, so you get a real price instead of a range.
- You are not asked to guess whether it is a half load or a full one. That is our job.
- The price you are given is the price you pay, and it covers the labour and the disposal.
- It goes straight to us, not to a call centre, and we are the ones who come back to you.
What office clearance in Braintree takes in
What a commercial job here usually is, and where each one stops.
- Soft strip out. Back to shell. Partitions, ceiling grid, floor boxes, fitted kitchens and storage out, and the floor swept end to end for whoever is in next.
- Renovation clearance. Taken away as the job runs rather than after it, so the old kitchen and bathroom are not sat in the car park for a fortnight.
- Outbuilding clearance and demolition. A derelict garage or outbuilding taken down and cleared. That is the structure itself coming down, which is a different job from emptying a shed and is priced differently.
- Construction site clearance and strip out. Cleared while a build runs, and stripped before one starts. Hoarding, access and whether it has to be out of hours are the first things we ask.
- Land clearing. Plots, yards and access ways cleared of whatever has been dumped on them or grown over them, and left flat and usable.
A Braintree business cannot use the tip on its own estate
This is worth knowing before you plan a strip out, because it catches people every time. Business, trade and commercial waste is not accepted at any Essex County Council recycling centre. Not most of them. Any of them.
Braintree Recycling Centre is on Springwood Drive, which is on Springwood Industrial Estate. A unit on that estate can be a few hundred yards from a recycling centre that cannot take a single thing out of it. The route that works for a resident is shut to a business, and what is left is a transfer station.
So a commercial clearance here is not really a question of borrowing a van and doing it over a weekend. It is loaded, taken away and disposed of, and what can be recycled is recycled.

Questions we get asked about this
Can you work outside trading hours?
That is usually how a town-centre job gets done at all. Tell us the window you have and the quote is for that window.
Do you take the fittings as well as the rubbish?
Yes. A strip out is the fittings coming out and going away in the same job, not a clearance afterwards.
Why can we not use the recycling centre on Springwood Drive?
Because it takes household waste only. Business, trade and commercial waste is not accepted at any Essex recycling centre, which is why commercial clearance goes to a transfer station instead.
