North Hertfordshire's sites are run by the county council, and the one most Hitchin people use is on Blackhorse Road in Letchworth, which is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Getting in means an ePass read by a number plate camera, a van or trailer needs its own pass, and business waste is turned away. For a carload of garden bags on a Saturday that is all fine. For the patio you have just dug up, a garage cleared out or a builder's leftover pile, it is a lot of trips to a site in another town on the days it happens to be open. We load it from where it is and take it on one visit, priced by the load off our list, from £99.99 for a Mini Load to £699.99 for a full Luton, including VAT, and nothing is paid until it has gone. The nearest county site is in Letchworth, shut two days a week, open only to an ePass, and closed to business waste. We take household and trade waste alike, with a waste transfer note for the trade.
