Romford's commercial core is old ground doing a modern job. The conservation area, designated in 1968, covers the Market Place, the buildings at its western end and the ancient crossroads where North Street, South Street, High Street and Market Place meet. Around that sit the parades, the shopping centres and the offices over the shops.

A unit on the Market Place may have no rear service door at all, a delivery window, and a shared stair to whatever is above it. Havering Council states on its own page that the bulky collection is for residents of Havering and not for commercial waste, and points businesses at the Frizlands Lane and Jenkins Lane sites instead. Both of those are in other boroughs and both are a paid trade route rather than a free one.
Gerpins Lane is not the answer either. It checks every vehicle for commercial waste on the way in, it wants proof of a residential address, and it bars the vehicle types a strip-out actually uses. A shop being emptied in a weekend is not a household waste problem and no household waste route will take it.
So it is loaded, carried away and disposed of properly at a transfer station, with whatever can be recycled separated out. The load size and the figure come in writing before anything starts, and where the address is inside the ULEZ the £12.50 line is on that quote rather than added later.

Can we use the council tip for shop waste?
No. Havering's own page says the service is not for commercial waste and Gerpins Lane checks for it at the gate. It has to go to a transfer station.
