Communal bin stores are where Romford's waste ends up
In a town of flats over shops and blocks behind them, most rubbish has to travel through a shared space to leave, and shared spaces are where it stops. A bin store gets a mattress in it, then a sofa, then a bed frame, and within a fortnight nobody can get a wheelie bin past. That is a large part of what we get called out to in Romford, and it is usually a landlord or a managing agent ringing rather than a tenant.
The rest is the ordinary domestic stuff a flat produces when somebody moves or refits: a kitchen out, a bathroom out, packaging, carpet and underlay, and whatever has been on the balcony for two years. None of it fits in a car and none of it is going to Upminster on a Saturday.

- A photo tells us the load size straight away, so you get a real price instead of a range.
- You are not asked to guess whether it is a half load or a full one. That is our job.
- The price you are given is the price you pay, and it covers the labour and the disposal.
- It goes straight to us, not to a call centre, and we are the ones who come back to you.
Rubbish removal in Romford is this same job
Rubbish removal, rubbish clearance and waste clearance are three names for one thing here: a pile that needs to be gone, usually out of a communal space. One vehicle and one published list, so we write one page instead of three.
What waste clearance in Romford takes in
The jobs this covers in Romford, most of them starting in a communal space.
- Garage clearance. Where there is one. In Romford it is more often a bin store, a balcony or a cupboard on a landing than a garage.
- Garden clearance. Green waste, turf and old fencing off the terraces behind the main roads.
- Builders waste clearance. Plasterboard, timber, kitchen units and rubble off a refit. Gerpins Lane needs a booking for DIY waste even in a car, so this is the load people ring about.
- Fly-tip clearance. Waste dumped in a communal bin store, on a service road or at the back of a parade. Cleared, and the ground swept after, because half the job is making the space usable again.
- Wait and load service. Loaded in one visit with the vehicle on the shortest stop we can manage. On a Romford street where there is nowhere to stand a skip, that is often the only version that works.
- Hazardous waste clearance. Some of what comes out of a flat refit cannot travel with general waste. Tell us what came out of the kitchen before the day and you get a straight yes or no.
- Warehouse clearance and rip out. Storage units and warehouses emptied and ripped out, fittings included.
- Shop clearance and rip out. Shop fits pulled out on the parades and the side streets, ready to give the keys back.
Booked for a van, booked for DIY waste, and proof of address
Romford has no recycling centre of its own. Havering's is Gerpins Lane at Upminster, and it is the strictest site on our patch. A booking is needed for a van or a trailer, and separately for any DIY waste in any vehicle including a car. Only light commercial under 3,500kg and single-axle trailers are permitted, and Lutons, tippers, tail lifts and flat beds are barred from every site the authority runs.
You also have to prove where you live, with a recent council tax statement or photo ID registered to an address in Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Newham or Redbridge, and every vehicle is checked on the way in for restricted and commercial waste. None of that is unreasonable. It is just a long way from 'pop it down the tip'.
The alternative the council offers is £71.50 for one to three items and £18.50 for each extra, non-refundable, out by 7am, nothing over six feet. Ours is a published load price with the ULEZ line at £12.50 shown separately for addresses inside the zone, and the whole figure in writing before we book you in.

Questions we get asked about this
Somebody has dumped a sofa in our bin store. Can you take just that?
Yes. One item is a quarter load at most and the published price covers it. Send a photo and you get a written figure back.
We are a managing agent with four blocks. Can you do them together?
Yes, and it is usually cheaper that way. Tell us the addresses and roughly what is in each and it comes back as one written quote.
Am I charged for ULEZ?
If the address is inside the zone, the £12.50 line applies and it is on the quote before you agree. Outside the zone there is nothing to pay.
