The rear yards are where it all is, and they are hard to reach

Ingatestone's waste is behind the High Street rather than in front of it. The conservation appraisal notes that plot widths here vary because historic plots have been merged and subdivided over centuries, and that many of the boundaries are medieval. What that produces is a run of odd-shaped rear yards, some of them still undeveloped, each reached through an arch or a gap in the building line.

Those yards accumulate. Old outbuildings, garden waste, fencing, a bath somebody took out in the nineties. Getting it out is a matter of width and turning circle, not muscle, and it is why the honest question on the phone is how wide the opening is rather than how much there is.

Or send a photo, which is quicker

  • A photo tells us the load size straight away, so you get a real price instead of a range.
  • You are not asked to guess whether it is a half load or a full one. That is our job.
  • The price you are given is the price you pay, and it covers the labour and the disposal.
  • It goes straight to us, not to a call centre, and we are the ones who come back to you.

Rubbish removal in Ingatestone is this same job

Rubbish removal, rubbish clearance and waste clearance are three names for one thing here: a rear yard that needs emptying through a gap the size of a cart. One vehicle and one published list, which is why this is a single page.

What waste clearance in Ingatestone takes in

The jobs this covers in Ingatestone, nearly all of them in a rear yard.

Get a price for this
  • Garage clearance. Where there is one. Behind the High Street it is more often a brick outbuilding in a rear yard than a modern garage.
  • Garden clearance. Hedge cuttings, turf, brash and old fencing out of the rear yards and the gardens off Station Lane and Norton Road.
  • Builders waste clearance. Plasterboard, timber and rubble off a refit. Mountnessing takes no DIY waste and no rubble at all, so this load has to leave the village on somebody's vehicle.
  • Fly-tip clearance. Waste dumped in a rear alley, a yard entrance or a field gateway on the lanes out. The narrow openings that make the village what it is also make it easy to leave something in one overnight.
  • Wait and load service. Loaded in one visit and gone with us. On a High Street with narrow pavements and a blind junction at Fryerning Lane, a skip standing for a week is not really an option.
  • Hazardous waste clearance. A brick outbuilding behind this street often holds something that cannot travel with general waste. Tell us what is stored in there before the day and you get a straight yes or no on whether it can travel.
  • Warehouse clearance and rip out. Stores, barns and units emptied and ripped out, fittings included.
  • Shop clearance and rip out. Shop fits stripped out along the High Street, ready for the keys to be handed back.

No rubble, no vans, and shut on Tuesdays

Mountnessing Recycling Centre is on Roman Road, effectively next door, and it is one of the most restricted sites in Essex. No DIY waste. No rubble. No bookings for vans, pick-ups or large trailers. Closed every Tuesday. Being close does not help if the load is the sort it refuses and the vehicle is the sort it will not let in.

The site also takes household waste only, like every Essex recycling centre, and that excludes anything a builder, a gardener or a fitter produced while working at your address, even though it came out of your house.

So for a rear-yard clear-out, a hedge or a bathroom, the route is a vehicle and a transfer station. Ours is priced off a published load list, the figure is in writing before we book you in, and there is no slot and no closed day to plan around.

Questions we get asked about this

Ask us something else
The yard is through an arch about seven feet wide.

Tell us the number when you ring. It decides which vehicle comes and how the load is carried, and it is the first thing we ask about in this village.

Can you take rubble?

Yes. Mountnessing will not take any, which is the most common reason people here ring. A clean rubble load is priced on the published hardcore line.

What is your range from the village?

Fryerning, Mountnessing, Stock, Margaretting and the lanes between them. The figure you are given already covers getting there.
