Two kinds of commercial property here, and they are nothing alike
Shire Hill Industrial Estate, off Thaxted Road, is the modern half: terraces of steel portal frame units with blockwork and profile cladding, a loading door and somewhere to put a vehicle. A strip out there is a straightforward day.
The other half is a shop or an office inside a listed building on a medieval street, and it is a different trade. With 355 listed buildings in the town, a fair share of the commercial premises are in one. It is worth being straight about what that means for a small business. There is no council route for your unit's clearance at all: the household service is not open to you and the gate will turn you away. A commercial load goes to a transfer station, and that is what it costs to do it properly.

Usually not to the door. It becomes a carry to the nearest place we can legally stand, generally before the shops open or after they close.
