I've used this service twice to collect bulky rubbish from my front garden and they've been fantastic both times. Very quick service, take very bulky items and very quick turnaround. Definitely recommend.

Why Colchester jobs take longer than the pile suggests
A lot of Colchester's older stock sits inside a conservation area that was designated in 1968 and covers the whole of the walled town. Those streets have tight side passages, shared entries and no vehicle access to the rear, so waste that accumulated in a back garden has to come back through the house or down a passage barely wider than a wheelbarrow.
More about Colchester
Out towards Severalls and the newer estates it is an ordinary load off a drive. The same quantity of waste can be two very different jobs depending on which side of the town wall it is sitting on, and that is what we are asking about when we ask for the address.

More about waste clearance in Colchester: what it takes in and where it goes
Rubbish removal in Colchester is the same job
Rubbish removal, rubbish clearance and waste clearance describe one thing here: a pile that needs to go. It is the same vehicle and the same published price list whichever you typed, so it gets one page rather than three competing for the same customer.
What waste clearance in Colchester takes in
The jobs this covers from the walled town out to Severalls and the Hythe.
- Garage clearance. Front to back, to a swept floor and bare walls, including whatever went up into the rafters.
- Garden clearance. Green waste, hedge cuttings, turf and the heap behind the terrace, barrowed out through the passage.
- Builders waste clearance. Plasterboard, timber, packaging and rubble off a refit, carried through the house where there is genuinely no other route.
- Fly-tip clearance. Fly-tipping on an access road, a service yard or a shared bay, cleared and the ground swept behind it.
- Wait and load service. The van waits, we load, and it leaves on the same visit. On a narrow street inside the walls that is often the only workable option.
- Hazardous waste clearance. An old outbuilding often has something in it that cannot travel with the rest. Say what it is when you call and you get a straight answer.
- Warehouse clearance and rip out. Warehouses emptied and ripped out, racking, mezzanine and fittings included.
- Shop clearance and rip out. Shop fits stripped out in the High Street and on the retail parks, unit returned empty.
Shrub End Road, and what it will turn away
Colchester Recycling Centre is at 221 Shrub End Road, CO3 4RN. Vans, pick-ups and large trailers can be booked in, and the summer hours run 9am to 5pm from 1 March, dropping to 4pm for the winter.
It is household waste only. Business, trade and commercial waste is not accepted at any Essex recycling centre, and neither is waste a tradesperson produced doing work at your house. Because Colchester sits close to the county boundary it is also worth knowing that the gate is for Essex residents, with reciprocal access for Suffolk.
So a kitchen you took out yourself can go. The same kitchen taken out by a fitter cannot, and that is the point at which most people stop trying to do it themselves.
Questions we get asked about this
There is no way round the back. Does that cost more?
No. The carry-out is the job and it is inside the load price. What changes the figure is how much there is, not how far it has to come.
Can I book a van into Shrub End Road myself?
Household waste of your own, yes. Waste a tradesperson made at your property is not accepted, and neither is anything from a business.
Do you clear shared bin areas for a landlord?
Yes. Tell us whether the land is private, because that decides who is responsible for it rather than whether we can clear it.

- You are not asked to guess whether it is a half load or a full one. That is our job.
- The price you are given is the price you pay, and it covers the labour and the disposal.
- It goes straight to us, not to a call centre, and we are the ones who come back to you.
