Seventy years of accumulation, and where it collects

The neighbourhoods went up between 1951 and the 1960s and a lot of them are still on their original layout, which means garages, stores and sheds that have had seventy years to fill. That is the bulk of what gets cleared here, alongside garden waste off plots laid out with broad verges and decent-sized gardens.

The other regular is communal parking and shared access ways, where something gets left overnight after somebody moves out. Planned estates are good at giving people somewhere to park and equally good at giving people somewhere to dump, and the two are usually the same place.

  • A photo tells us the load size straight away, so you get a real price instead of a range.
  • You are not asked to guess whether it is a half load or a full one. That is our job.
  • The price you are given is the price you pay, and it covers the labour and the disposal.
  • It goes straight to us, not to a call centre, and we are the ones who come back to you.

Rubbish removal in Stevenage is the same job

Rubbish removal, rubbish clearance and waste clearance describe the same thing: a pile that has to go. Same vehicle, same published price list, which is why there is one page for it here rather than three.

What waste clearance in Stevenage takes in

The jobs this covers here, and what each means locally.

Get a price for this
  • Garage clearance. Front to back to a swept floor and bare walls. On these estates a garage is often the single biggest part of a clear-out.
  • Garden clearance. Green waste, hedge cuttings and turf off gardens that were laid out with room in them.
  • Builders waste clearance. Plasterboard, timber, packaging and rubble off a refit, loaded off a drive or a verge rather than barrowed through a house.
  • Fly-tip clearance. Waste dumped on communal parking or a shared access way, lifted and the surface swept back. On planned estates this is a regular rather than a rarity.
  • Wait and load service. The van waits, we load it, and it goes on the same visit, rather than a skip standing on a shared parking area for a week.
  • Hazardous waste clearance. Some of what comes out of a garage shut since the 1970s cannot travel with general waste. Tell us what it is and you get a straight answer.
  • Warehouse clearance and rip out. Warehouses emptied and ripped out, racking and fittings included.
  • Shop clearance and rip out. Shop fits stripped and cleared, ready to hand the unit back.

Caxton Way is open every day, and still will not take some of it

Stevenage has one of the easier tips to use in the county. Caxton Way, SG1 2DF, seven days a week, 10am to 5.30pm, and no slot to book: you register for a free ePass and a camera reads the plate on the way in.

What it will not take is the part that matters. Waste from a business, a charity or any other organisation is refused, a business address cannot hold an ePass at all, and DIY and home improvement waste is accepted in limited amounts only. That last one is what catches a refit.

So a garage clear-out is straightforward and a bathroom rip-out is not, even though both fit in the same van. That distinction is usually what decides whether somebody does it themselves or rings us.

Questions we get asked about this

Ask us something else
Something has been dumped on our communal parking. Who deals with it?

If it is private land it falls to the landowner or the managing agent. We clear it and invoice whoever is arranging it.

Will the tip take my bathroom rip-out?

Only in limited amounts, and not at all if a tradesperson produced it. That is the usual reason a refit ends up needing a vehicle.

Do you charge more for a garage that is completely full?

It is priced on the load size, so a full garage costs what the load costs. Send a photograph of it open and you get a firm figure.
