Everything on the excluded list is what actually needs shifting
Read the district's list of what it will not collect and you have written the job description for waste clearance in Loughton. Garden waste, soil and cut-down trees. Building waste. Carpet and underlay. Worktops. Fixtures or fittings. Paint and liquids. Glass or anything with glass in it, tables included. Fence panels, sheds and greenhouses.
That is not a criticism of the council; those are sensible exclusions for a kerbside truck. It just means that a hedge cut back, a kitchen taken out or an old shed that has finally gone through has no council route in this district at all, and the nearest tip refuses rubble and refuses vans. This is the gap we get rung about.

- A photo tells us the load size straight away, so you get a real price instead of a range.
- You are not asked to guess whether it is a half load or a full one. That is our job.
- The price you are given is the price you pay, and it covers the labour and the disposal.
- It goes straight to us, not to a call centre, and we are the ones who come back to you.
Rubbish removal in Loughton is this same job
Rubbish removal, rubbish clearance and waste clearance are three names for one thing here: a pile that the council will not take and the tip will not book in. One vehicle and one published price list, so this is one page and not three.
What waste clearance in Loughton takes in
The jobs this covers in Loughton, and where each one appears on the district refusal list.
- Garage clearance. Front to back, down to a swept floor and bare brick. It is also the one place the council's crews will not go, which is why it heads this list.
- Garden clearance. Hedge cuttings, turf, brash and cut-down trees, all of which are on the district's excluded list by name.
- Builders waste clearance. Plasterboard, timber, worktops, fixtures and rubble. Building waste is excluded from the collection and rubble is refused at Chigwell, so this load has nowhere else to go.
- Fly-tip clearance. Waste dumped on a verge, a lane or the forest edge. Up the hill the lanes are narrow and unlit, which is exactly why things get left there overnight.
- Wait and load service. Loaded in the one visit and taken away with us. On a Debden street with limited parking that is usually neater than a skip and a permit.
- Hazardous waste clearance. Paint, liquids and chemical waste are all on the district's refusal list. Say what is in the garage before the day and you get a straight answer on whether it can go.
- Warehouse clearance and rip out. Lock-ups and stores run out completely, racking and shelving with them.
- Shop clearance and rip out. Shop fits pulled out on the Broadway and at Debden, ready to give the keys back.
No rubble at Chigwell, no vans at Chigwell, and shut two days a week
Chigwell Recycling Centre on Luxborough Lane is the nearest Essex site to Loughton and it is one of the most restricted on the county's list. DIY waste and rubble are refused outright. Vans, pick-ups and large trailers cannot be booked in. And it is closed every Wednesday and Thursday, so there are five days a week in which to plan around the other two rules.
The council's special collection does not fill the gap either, because building waste, garden waste, carpet, worktops, fixtures, fittings, glass, fence panels and sheds are all excluded from it by name, and it will not collect from a garage regardless of what is in there.
That leaves a vehicle and a transfer station, which is what we are. The load sizes and prices are published, the figure is in writing before we book you in, and there is no gate fee or slot to work around at either end.

Questions we get asked about this
Can you take rubble?
Yes. Chigwell will not, which is the single most common reason people in Loughton ring us. A clean rubble load has its own published hardcore price.
The old shed has collapsed. Does that count as garden waste?
It counts as a load. Sheds are on the council's excluded list, so it was never going in a special collection anyway. Send a photo and you get the size back.
Would a skip be cheaper?
For a long job with somewhere to stand it, sometimes. For one clear-out it seldom does, because you are paying for every day the skip stands there and the lifting remains yours.
